Caustic Soda Flakes & pearls
Caustic soda, also known as sodium hydroxide (NaOH), is a highly versatile and strong alkali. It is available in two common forms:
- Caustic Soda Pearls – Small, white, spherical granules with high purity and quick solubility in water.
- Caustic Soda Flakes – White, flat, and flaky solid with similar chemical properties but a different physical form.
Both forms are highly corrosive, soluble in water, and generate heat when dissolved. They have a slippery feel and should be handled with care.
Uses of Caustic Soda
- Soap & Detergent Manufacturing – Essential for saponification in soap production and detergent formulation.
- Paper & Pulp Industry – Used in pulping wood to manufacture paper and paper products.
- Textile Industry – Involved in fabric processing, dyeing, and mercerization of cotton.
- Water Treatment – Adjusts pH and removes heavy metals from industrial wastewater.
- Petroleum Industry – Used in refining petroleum products and removing acidic impurities.
- Chemical Manufacturing – Produces chemicals like sodium hypochlorite, sodium phosphate, and synthetic fibers.
- Food Industry – Used in food processing for peeling fruits/vegetables and cocoa processing.
- Aluminum Production – Helps extract aluminum from bauxite ore.
- Cleaning & Degreasing – Used in drain cleaners, industrial degreasers, and metal surface treatments.
